Geography has landed.

What a week, and we're only on Thursday! I realise normally I write my blog posts on Sundays but so much is going on it felt necessary to give you a quick update mid-way. We're looking at getting a downloadable copy, as well as a method of buying the CD, of Geography on the website asap however we're a bit busy at the weekend so it might take a couple weeks - more on that later!

Last night went really well despite a bad case of the nerves before hand due to an underlining fear that I would in fact be playing to no one. No, you all showed up in your dozens and reassured me that I did infact have a gig on my hands! Kiera was brilliant, absolutely brilliant and as I've said repeatedly since - I only heard her support set through the wall and I was still blown away. Stunning voice, simply put, the kind of music you can get lost in. It was an absolute privaledge to play and sing with Kiera and a dream come true to have her use Cello on some of my more treasured tunes. Nev also did a fantastic job at being my session guitarist - his first ever gig as well! Incredible. I was in the company of troopers right the way through and I could not of had a more special night. I've had lots of comments on how many instruments I played which is good, I was aiming for that ;P I do this thing when I have a big gig where I pretty much bring every instrument I can and perform at least one song on it. Unforunately that leaves me quetionning, how on earth will I up that next time? I have a plan though....

What were the backstage antics I hear you cry? Well I visited the bathroom numerous times I can tell you that! Recited the lyrics to solsbury hill at rap-speed continually, took selfies for facebook and sang the entirety (complete with silly voices) of "Going through the motions" from the Buffy Musical. Come on, you'd expect no less from me ;)

So I'm on the come down, or rather I should be but instead I'm prepping for Saturday when I'm being whisked away to support Boo Hewerdine in Bristol Folk House. I was originally going to take one instrument but I have been persuaded that maybe I should do a roholio trick and take two so look out Bristol, you're getting the banjo treatment!

If all of that wasn't enough I also have some exciting news regarding my new guitar. After months of anticipating it's arrival my Brook baby is finally ready for collection. Pictures of my happy face with it to follow!

So there you have it! All is busy in the holio-verse (as I like to call it) and I'm looking forward to letting you know how my trip to Brizzle goes.

Thank you again for everyone who came and showed their support for local music last night.

Hello again!

It's taken a full week of bizarre sleeping patterns and a drop of wine to get me back on English time - thank you for being patient with me! The album is ready to go, the launch is imminent, Roholio has been splattered across the local papers and radio waves (had a wicked time Saturday morning with Colin Slatter on the voice FM) and rehearsals are going well!

Well the Queen's haven't rang us to tell us it's cancelled so I'm assuming you've all been super in getting your tickets in advance! A massive THANK YOU to all who did! I must admit I was bricking it quite a bit this time last week but I'm feeling reassured that there will at least be enough people in the audience for the magic to go ahead and I do really really REALLY want you all to hear Kiera and the music we've been making :-)

So it's really a short entry from me, just know that I am exciting and practising every day to deliver a set worthy of you all! There will be brand spanking new tunes, there will be old favorites, there will be tunes of the new album and a stupid amount of instrument changes - it wouldn't be a Roholio launch if I wasn't challenging myself continually throughout the set :)

So it's looking good and I'm full of excitement and butterflies. See you all soon! Oh jeez what am I going to wear?

As you can probably tell I'm getting pretty excited about Japan now, only one more sleep! I will literally be up at 2am tomorrow morning and travelling by half past! How mad is that, I already feel exhausted :-O!

Anyway before I descend into proper giggly holiday girl mode I should probably give you a little update into the world of Roholio :-) So last you heard from me I think I was just getting the artwork ready for the duplicators. The album was sent off last week but yes, in true murphy's law fashion, it has returned with some faults... a pretty major fault really in that they put the wrong track listing on the back >.< Whoops! Oh well, they have been gracious enough to ensure me they will send replacement wallets so that's good. Hopefully I can reassemble Geography when I return.

Track wise I cut it from twelve to ten (told you there'd be some cuts). Let's face it, it was pretty inevitable. As much as I love The Anchor and Hope Hill they just didn't add to the album in the way the others did but I've been good and shared them on reverb nation and sound cloud so that you can have a sneaky peak at what I've been up to. Feel free to give me some feedback on them, hopefully something more constructive than, 'you suck'

Played an interesting gig last night which allowed me to test some new material and deliverym readying myself for the Queens. I have to say I am really looking forward to that one. The songs are thriving with Kiera and I'm hoping to have a bit of support from an old friend too so that I can bring you some favs that require two people to perform.

So there you have it, onwards and upwards (literally, like up into the sky). Big thanks as always for sticking with me and showing your support amd I'll see you all soon.

Ja ne!

I really am.

Well I think that was probably what the doctor ordered, although maybe my back and hips would disagree - I've ever walked far too much or have premature arthritis coming on!

Japan is a strange, strange place that I have learnt a lot from. I didn't really write while I was out there - too exhausted! - but I saw some things and faced some fears and it has definitely changed me for the better. For one thing I appreciate England a whole lot more now!

Anyway I won't bore you with all the stories, maybe just one or two every now and then, 'cause there's nothing worse than someone who comes back from their holiday and just goes on and on about it :) I shall instead share this picture of the final copies of Geography with you! After a bit of a cock up from the duplicators which meant I had to manually put each one in a different cover (thank you jet lag for having me up at 3am to do that the next day back) they are finally ready for your ears. So here we are a little over a week from the launch and I'm a little concerned that no one really knows it's happening but hey I have done my best and at the very least I do have Geography now. Rehearsals start up again this week with my compadres so that should reassure me that musically at least, we are on track. But if you could all spread the word, that'd be great!

No doubt you'll get another nervous blog update from me next Sunday, 'til then my friends!

Hi guys

I woke up this morning writing this blog entry in my head but the exact wording of what I was going to say has gone - which is probably for the best ‘cause it was pretty mopey! Why mopey you ask? Well I’m just feeling it this week, maybe its the repercussions of last week, maybe its just that it’s August and I have too many bad memories associated with August, maybe it’s all the digs. I guess it’s all of those things combined, you know how some days you just wake up and think, ‘why am I doing this?’ ’ ‘why am I putting myself through this,’ well I’ve had about three days like that this week but I’m hoping to replace the sadness with sheer terror as we get closer to my departure date for Japan.

See I can hear you all now yelling at your screens, YOU’RE GOING TO JAPAN, LIGHTEN UP! Good point, so I will! There’s lots to do in this last week, photoshoot for one so I can get Geography sent off for duplication (otherwise it won’t be available at the Queen’s and we can’t have that!). I’ve also got another practise scheduled with Kiera which I’m looking forward to - all is going well on that front :) and then there’s the holiday mumbo jumbo - which I secretly love. I’m finishing the week off with a gig at the Calvert Trust on Exmoor too so I should really have no complaints, it will be a good week ‘cause there will be so much to do. I guess this week I just spent too much time thinking about all the bad things that had been said to me or all the let downs rather than focusing on all the good coming my way.

My apologies, I’ll be good!
